Becoming More Observant

Question

Hi Rabbi , i hope your doing well. I have a very important question ,can hashem forgive the extreme sanctity of god's name? And where can a jew start as to towards taking better adjusting steps in the right direction ? And im not sure how to correct my mistakes or where to begin , because i dont necessarily know where to start to begin correcting my mistakes ? For e.g when i dont pray shacharit /arvit mincha maariv prayers. I pray the way i know best not how its done although i would love to do prayers correctly , just struggeling in finding the right prayers withon the siddur as towards appropriate pages and proper excaution and etc . But how i usually pray is every day read the shema then prayer for gaurding the eyes then the blessing of asher yatsar then thanking Hashem for everything prayer then prayer for health then prayer for sustenence and 4 more prayers after then in tehillim . Whenever you can Rabbi let me know any words of advice please as soon as you can . Ty Rabbi, i wanna get proper guidence snd become a better jew. I hope theres hope for me .

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for writing.

It is wonderful that you are making efforts to be more and more observant.

Everything you do is great. Slowly try to build up your Jewish observance by adding another mitzva and another prayer. Get yourself a good siddur (see Artscroll.com) that will teach how to pray as a Jew. There are many other books at that website as well that will help you grow in your Judaism.

Perhaps most importantly, I encourage you to reach out to your local orthodox rabbi for assistance and guidance in becoming more observant.
