Forgiveness
Question
How do I forgive someone?
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
You can forgive someone when they sincerely ask for forgiveness. Alternatively, one can unilaterally forgive someone by saying that you forgive them whole heartedly.
For example, see the Mishna Berura 239:9 where he writes that it is proper before going to sleep to unilaterally forgive anyone who sinned against him or caused him harm. By doing so, one merits long life.
