Dental treatment - ma'aser money

Question

I am a young unmarried woman who covers all my own expenses. I need dental treatment that will cost 8,000 shekels. May I use some of my maaser money for this?

Answer

Shalom uVracha,

It is not permitted to pay personal expenses from maaser money.

However, if because of this expense you will not be able to make it through the month financially, you are then exempt from giving maaser for that month.
