Preventing Theft in a Store

Question

I sell toys in a toy store in Bnei Brak, and I noticed an elderly, well known woman in Bnei Brak, put several toys in a bag, while checking that no one was paying any attention. When she reached the checkout, I asked her to also take out what was in the bag, the problem was, that there were several people there when I asked her to do so.Do I need to apologize to her because maybe I embarrassed her in public, however, on the other hand, she probably came to steal. What is the Halacha?

Answer

Shalom Rav

You acted correctly.

With regard to theft, you are not obligated to remain silent.

You also did well not to scold her but simply asked her to take out what was in the bag, and this is not considered as accusing her of stealing.
