Regarding Conversion in Turkey

Question

Rabbi, I am a Turk living in Turkey. I want to convert to judaism and I contacted the Chief Rabbinate of Turkey, but they informed me that no conversions are done in Turkey. I know I do not "have to" convert, but i really want to become a Jew. Can i travel abroad for a limited amount of time and come back to my home? Can i have some help? Thanks.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

In order to convert, you would need to move to a Jewish community in Europe or Israel. The conversion would take several years and require much study.

So too, you would need to live in a Jewish community after conversion.
