Wanting to convert

Question

I reached out to our local Orthodox rabbi about conversion. I was expecting some discouragement so I continued to ask him to meet with me to talk. He responded by blocking my emails, and saying I was not welcome at his classes or to come to services. There was nothing overtly offensive about my emails but I was persistent (because we are told that Rabbis will discourage converts). Should I assume that he is still "discouraging" and just ignore that and head on down for services, or am I going to get the cops called on me for showing up? I'm very confused because this did not at all go the way I expected.

Answer

Thank you for your question,

I understand your frustration, however, I think it would be to your advantage to first have a frank talk with the rabbi, it is very hard to guess what is causing this reaction and give you clarity of mind on how to move on.
