How many aliyot are done on Shabbat

There is disorder in our synagogue; some want many aliyot, and some want fewer. What does Halacha say?

Shalom and blessings! According to Halacha, there should be seven aliyot on Shabbat, besides the maftir, but it is permissible to add. However, the Mishnah Berurah writes that ideally, one should not add, both because of the additional blessings and because of the burden on the congregation. Nevertheless, when there is a concern about disputes or dissatisfaction from people who wanted to be called to the Torah but were not, or any other concern, such as a celebration where they want to honor all relatives and grandparents with an aliyah, or when there are several obligations, etc., it is advisable to increase the number of aliyot and not cause, God forbid, disputes. Therefore, the congregants should be shown the Halacha, and if everyone agrees wholeheartedly that there will only be seven aliyot unless there is a need, it is preferable. However, if some say that their custom is different, etc., part of peace is not to insist on it, as the Mishnah Berurah writes. Love truth and peace.
