Opening a Door with a Bell Attached

Question

We have a mobile on our door that, when the door is opened, makes pleasant knocking sounds for about half a minute. The question is whether there is a problem with this on Shabbos.

Answer

One should remove these items from the door before Shabbos, or alternatively arrange them in a way that they do not make noise, such as tying wool between the clapper and the bell, or similar.

Mishnah Berurah (Chapter 338, Subparagraph 6).
