Moving a Toy that Makes Mechanical Noise
Question
Is it permissible to move a child's toy that makes noise on Shabbat? I’m asking specifically about a mechanical toy, which makes noise without batteries or electricity.
Answer
It is permissible to move the toy to clear its place or to use it without it making noise, provided that it can indeed be moved without making noise. As for moving it for the purpose of protecting it from breaking or being stolen, the Mishnah Berurah was uncertain about the matter.
