Setting an Alarm Clock for Shabbat

Question

Is it permissible to set an alarm clock on Friday that will ring on Shabbat?

Answer

It is permissible to set an alarm clock before Shabbat, but one must ensure that there is no chance that it will be turned off on Shabbat. If there is a concern that while sleeping, one may accidentally press the snooze or off button, it should be placed far away from the bed.
