Measuring Animal Feed
Question
We have several domestic animals, and for some of them, I need to measure an exact amount of food. Is it permissible for me to measure and feed them on Shabbat as usual?
Answer
Greetings,
It is forbidden to measure animal feed on Shabbos using a measuring utensil. However, it is permissible to take a container whose volume is known, such as a liter or half a liter, fill it, and bring it to the animal. If necessary, you may bring the animal the required amount of food multiple times until you reach the exact quantity that is needed.
