Clearing a Warehouse for Children's Games on Shabbat

Question

Greetings! The children want a room to play in on Shabbat, and they have started clearing out the basement, which currently has a very large number of radishes on the floor. [We grow and sell radishes]. Is it permissible on Shabbat to continue clearing it out, considering that there is still approximately enough to fill a container of 100 liters?

Answer

Dear …!
For the purpose of a permissible activity (that is not a commandment) such as children's games, it is indeed permitted to clear out a warehouse on Shabbat. However, one is only allowed to clear out an amount less than 42.3 liters. If this amount is sufficient for the children, it is permissible, but anything more than that is prohibited. [In the case where it is intended for a mitzvah-related matter, it is permissible for each individual, including children, to move up to the amount of 42.3 liters].
