Calving on Shabbat

Question

I am a partner in a farm and I wanted to know if in the case of a birth on Shabbat, is it permissible to perform the calving?

Answer

Greetings,
On Shabbat, it is forbidden for a Jew to perform calving, but it is permissible to ask a non-Jew to do so, and the farm should ensure that in case of need, a non-Jewish worker will be available.

Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chayim, Chapter 332, §1).
