Putting a Pin in an AC Cover on Shabbat to Reduce Noise

Question

I have an air conditioning unit that I cover with a piece of plastic during the winter. When it is windy, the plastic makes a lot of noise. Am I allowed to stick a pin through the plastic into the unit on Shabbat to quiet it down?

Its Forbidden to do so because it is a Melacha of Boneh.
