Bunion Splint Straightener Corrector – Device for Straightening the Big Toe

Question

A device called a “Bunion Splint Straightener Corrector”, which is intended to straighten a crooked big toe. Is it permitted to wear it on Shabbos, or is there a concern of refuah or metaken mana (fixing a utensil)?

Answer

Shalom uVracha,

It’s allowed. Since this is a type of treatment that can’t be done with regular medicine, therefore, the concern of shechikas samamanim (grinding herbs for medicine) doesn’t apply here.
