Drinking Aloe Vera on Shabbos
Question
Is it permitted on Shabbos for someone with a sensitive stomach to drink an aloe-vera beverage?
Answer
Shalom uVracha,
If the person is considered a choleh (truly ill), it is permitted to take medicine on Shabbos.
If it’s only a minor discomfort—what halachah calls a meichush—then taking medicine on Shabbos is not allowed.
A localized pain counts as a meichush, but pain that weakens the whole body, or when someone needs to lie down because of the pain or weakness, is considered a choleh.
