Question

For Shabbat for all the reasons
Topic: Havdalah
Question: Is one obligated to have spices and a candle for Havdalah?

Answer

Shalom u-vracha

The Sages instituted to recite a blessing over the candle and over the spices in Havdalah.

However, one who does not have a candle or spices is not obligated to search for them, and may recite Havdalah over the wine alone.

If later on Motza'ei Shabbat a candle and spices happen to become available to him, he should recite the blessings over them.

One who did not recite Havdalah on Motza'ei Shabbat and makes up Havdalah on the following days [until Tuesday] does not then recite the blessings over the spices or over the candle.
