Selecting Small Bones from Boiled Chicken for a Dog

We have tried different formulas, but they have side effects, and it's not good for the dog. What we give him is boiled chicken, but we must separate the chicken from the small bones because they are dangerous for the dog. Is it permissible on Shabbat to separate the chicken, or must we give the formula specifically?

Hello, If it is possible to give the dog a piece without small bones, and keep the pieces with small bones for after Shabbat, it is obligatory to do so and not to exert effort on Shabbat. However, if this is not sufficient, it depends on the side effects of the formula. If it causes distress to the dog, it is permissible to separate the chicken, provided that the meat is separated from the bone and the bone is not pulled out, and this should be done only close to the time of feeding the dog. However, if the side effects do not cause real distress to the dog, but it simply enjoys boiled chicken more, it is forbidden to exert effort on Shabbat to separate the chicken for the dog. The permission to feed a dog on Shabbat is on the condition that it is not halachically defined as a vicious dog [that harms or frightens others], unless the dog is tied with an iron chain [in a place where the dog is needed for security, it is permissible to release it at night].
