Genesis 24:9: Oath Under Abraham’s Thigh Explained

Question

What does it mean when Abraham asks his servant to put his hand under Abraham’s thigh to seal the promise that he would not take Isaac back to Abraham’s homeland if he fails to find Isaac a wife? Does this mean Abraham sat on his servant’s hand? (Genesis 24:9)

Answer

Thank you for your question.

it literally means under his thigh, however Rashi explains it was under his reproductive organ since it was something that was considered holy since Avraham did the Mitsvah of circumcision.
