Is one obligated to publicize a flaw in a particular filter?

Question

I found a major loophole in in a certain content filter (at the ISP-level filtering — the strongest, not the software one). This loophole completely bypasses their filter. I spoke with a guy who said that in his yeshiva they use this filter, and the students break through it with this bypass and reach improper places. What should I do with this information? Do I need to publicize it?

Answer

Shalom uVracha,

It should not be publicized, since that would just lead people to misuse it and bypass the filter.

You must instead notify the filtering company so they can fix the problem, and in this way, you’ll be protecting all users.
