Sending Messages That Would Cause Shabbat Desecration

Question

I exchange messages with a relative who does not observe Torah and mitzvot. He currently lives in London. Do I need to wait until Shabbat ends there — meaning around 11:15 PM our time in Israel — because if I send him a message before that, he might reply, and would that be considered causing him to desecrate Shabbat on my account? And if he already sent me a message, is it permitted for me to respond, even though it might cause him to write me back?

Answer

Shalom,

There is a problem with this, as your message may cause him to respond on Shabbat.

Therefore, you should wait until Shabbat ends for him in London.
