Mezzuzah homeless

Question

Can a homeless woman have a mezzuzah for protection? Where? in purse, pocket , necklace loose or attached? How to attach it? No tent or encampment, pack up each day and go. Suitcase.

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

As a general rule, a mezuza is not to be used for any purpose other than on the doorposts of a home.

Although, a mezuza on the doorpost of a home does indeed have protective properties, it is a misconception that these protective properties can be aroused when using a mezuza differently, such as by wearing a mezuza necklace.

One who has no home is, unfortunately, Is not subject to the mitzva of mezuza.
