Parents Too Religious

Question

I said like our community and especially my family is on extreme level of yiddishkeit with certain things and if I'm not ready to b like that even tho I grew up like that and I'm still a yid that loves hashem and the Torah, and I know the Torah is the truth there's nothing sweeter and more emes than the torah and it's a guide how to live a good wholesome life but still I don't feel like I'm up to being sooo extreme with certain things, is it a possiblity to live a good, stable ,torahidiga life or ain't possible to still love hashem keep his Torah and just not b exactly like my parents!?!?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for writing.

While it is difficult to help mediate the differences between you and your parents in this forum, suffice it to say there is no requirement for you to be on an "extreme level" even if they may be.

All you are required to do is follow halacha as is written in Shulchan Aruch and poskim.

I am certain that if you tell your parents that you are committed to keeping basic halacha they will not impose any of their stringencies upon you.

Good luck!
