Planting Trees in Memory Of...

Question

I am unable to go to the funeral or Shiva of the 45yr old son of our long time family friends. We are non Jewish. I was thinking to get a tree planted in Israel in his memory by way of a third party company who issue a cars. Is this likely to offend?
