Prayer for the Merit of the Deceased After the Year of Mourning

Question

There is a prayer from the Sefer 'Pele Yoetz':'May it be Your will... that You accept with mercy and favor all the good deeds that I do, whether it is in thought or in speech... for the merit and elevation of the soul, of my father and mother...May it be Your will that his soul "be bound in the bond of life".' Can this prayer be said after 11 months?

Answer

Hello,

This prayer, as well as any prayer that is recited for the merit of the deceased, can be said even after 11 months.

The only thing not said after 11 months from the passing, is the Kaddish, because it is stated in the Talmud 'the judgment of the wicked in Gehinnom lasts 12 months', So we therefore want to imply that the deceased was not wicked and is therefore not in Gehinnom for 12 months.
