Kaddish for one who was cremated
Question
A cousin of mine recently passed away. He requested to be cremated. His children (not frum of course) could not be persuaded to bury him. I wanted to have someone say kaddish for him, but I don't know if it is muttar to say kaddish for one who was cremated. Should I have kaddish said for him?
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
One who is cremated by their own choice is not mourned nor is Kaddish recited for them.
