Opening a Store During Shiva by One of Two Partners Who Own Two Stores

Two partners who own two stores in partnership, each managing a store separately and sharing the profits, when one of them is sitting shiva, how should the two stores be managed?

The store managed by the mourner sitting shiva should be closed until after three days. The second store may be opened as usual even from the first day, since the store is not named after the mourner. However, if it is widely known that the store also belongs to the mourner and he occasionally visits there, it should not be opened until after three days.

Responsa Mabit, Part 1, Siman 260: "But if two partners in two stores, it seems that the partner can open his store even in the partnership business, it is no worse than privately, where we say that a partner can conduct business privately in his house even in the partnership business, as written in Tur Y"D, Siman 380, and since this partner, who had the event, is not accustomed to sit in this store at all, it is like privately in his house."

And in Responsa Mayim Amokim, Part 2, Siman 92, it is written about this: "It could be doubted in this case where the two partners were not sitting in one store, but each in his own designated store, although they were partners in the general merchandise of the two stores and both their hands are equal in the merchandise of the two stores. Nevertheless, since the mourner was not sitting in that store, it is somewhat like privately. Nevertheless, he concluded to prohibit because it is known to many that the store belongs to the mourner, it is forbidden due to appearance."
