Tzedaka Question

Question

Rav my question is this I have limited funds I have the ability to pay off a doctors degree over six years But the cost is I won’t have a spare cent for six years I’m 53 by the time I become a doctor I’ll be retiring If I don’t do it I will have funds spare for helping others The question is is it better to help as many people as I can or just try to better myself There are a few things involved I said I would lay down my life to help others I said I would become a doctor I said I would seek ( ch a b a d ) Can you give me some tanakh based guidance rav

If I understand your question correctly: You are permitted and encouraged to study/pay off your education if this is needed for your "parnassa" - to allow you to support yourself and make a respectable income. 

If there is no extra money for charitable purposes during this time then so be it. You can then give charity when you start making money.
