Insurance for a Broken Headlight

Question

Shalom,I have an insurance that covers my car’s headlights.  Before I made the insurance policy, the headlight was already slightly cracked, and now it’s completely broken. Can I file a claim with the insurance to have them pay for it? (It seems that I can’t update the policy about this issue, because there isn’t really a clause for that—it’s basically all or nothing.) Thanks so much!

Answer

Shalom uVracha,

You can file a claim with them.

Since the additional damage happened after you took out the insurance, they would be obligated to cover the full cost of the headlight.
