Taking Food from a Hotel dining room
Question
Is it permitted to take food from a hotel dining room (when there’s a sign saying not to take any), if the food will anyway be thrown away?
Answer
Shalom,
It is forbidden to do so, since they have the right to prohibit anyone taking their food even if it will be thrown away.
However, once the staff has cleared the food, it would be permissible to take it, since the food is then considered 'waste' and is permitted to take.
