Halacha of Keeping Money Found Where I May Have Dropped It

Question

Hello,

I put down a paper somewhere in yeshiva and later put that paper back in my pocket. When I got home, I saw that I was missing 50 shekel. The next day, there was a sign that someone had found money in the place where I had put the paper. It was 50 shekel. It makes sense that the 50 shekel (which, although I am not positive, was very likely in the same pocket as the paper) could have come out with the paper without me realizing it, and when I took the paper back, I left the 50 shekel there.

Is this enough proof for me to keep the 50 shekel?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

If it is a high chance that the money fell from your pocket, then you may claim it

Wishing you well.
