Birth Control Safety

Question

Hi i had a baby 8 months ago , I was using a copper iud for a few months but than i did a moch dachuk one day and when I was trying to take it out by mistake the iud came out instead ! I switch to taking the combination pill estrogen progesterone pills but I heard it increases the risk of certain cancers! I don't know what to do !

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

When birth control is permitted according to halacha the IUD and the pill are generally equally permissible options.

However, regarding the medical safety and preference of birth control, this is something you should discuss with your doctor.
