Selling a Cat to a Non-Jew for Neutering
Question
A disabled person owns a male cat. May he sell it to a non-Jew who is caring for him, and then that non-Jew will take it to another non-Jew to have it neutered, possibly by injection, and the cat will remain under the ownership of the non-Jew caretaker? Would this arrangement permit doing this, so that it would not be considered ha’arama (a mere legal loophole)?
Answer
Shalom uVracha,
Some are lenient in this kind of case, and in a time of need you can rely on those opinions.
