Mikva Question

Question

Hi It’s been several month Since I stop going to the mikveh because of a lot of reasons. My husband is mad at me and i told him i did the bedikat last week. So i should go to mikve this wendsday. But the thuth is that i totally forgot to do it. And know im ashamed to tell him. Im Not bleeding. Can I go to the mikve by doing the bedikat starting now?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

In order to be able to immerse, the "hefsek tahara" must have been done, and then at the very least, a bedika on day 1 and day 7.

If this bare minimum was not done, you must be honest with your husband and tell him that you cannot immerse. You can begin these bedikot now.

Hopefully your honesty and sincerity, along with your commitment never to slip in this area again, will bring more peace between you and your husband.

I do want to bring to your attention that the in the Zohar it is written that there are many punishments for a woman who refrains from immersing in order to cause her husband distress.
