Tevilah-Taharah

Question

I‘ve been to Mikvah in the ocean (am on vacation) after being with my husband I noticed something small was came loose between my teeth. I did check my teeth before and also flossed, I think it might be a piece of nail or something which was bitten off. Could that have been a chatzitza and a problem? Do I need to redo the Tevilah?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

As long as you checked your teeth and flossed before immersing, as you said you did, there’s no need to worry about anything found afterward.

It’s important to note that immersing in the sea according to Halacha is not simple, and it is only considered valid if someone witnessed that all your hair was properly immersed in the water—or if you wore a hat (that wasn’t tightly fitted) which kept your hair immersed. Otherwise, the immersion would not be valid.
