Calculating Menstrual Cycles After Childbirth
Question
My wife gave birth and saw blood, then there was a pause and she went to the mikveh. After some time, she saw blood again. Does she need to be concerned about the 30 and 31-day count?
Answer
Shalom and Mazal Tov
As long as she hasn’t completed her purification after childbirth, pauses in the bleeding are not taken into account regarding the 'Vestos' (calculation of cycles).
Only after she has managed to count the 7 clean days and immerse in the mikveh does she begin to calculate the cycles.
