MARRIAGE

Question

In Honour of the Rabbi. I have just come across the concept of a Jewish person with 'unknown status', are they able to then marry a Jewish person?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

A person must be able to prove his Jewish status.

The local rabbi generally oversees this process when joining a synagogue or preparing for marriage.
