Pacific salmon, not including steelhead
Question
Shalom, After spawning Pacific salmon naturally die. If some of this salmon were caught before it died or showed signs of decay would it still be kosher? I don't trust the answers that I've been getting from goyim. They seem to mean well but their answers are questionable.
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
There are no restrictions on the consumption of Kosher fish in terms of how or when they died.
However, when it comes to fish, there is a concern about infestation. for more information see:

However, to eat any food that shows signs of decay is disgusting and unhealthy, and may even be forbidden for those reasons accordingly.
