Accidental basar/'cholov mix up

Question

Hi Rabbi, We keep shulchan aruch Ha'rav at home. I made cheesy pasta and by accident my husband used a meaty wooden spoon (made from olive tree) and dipped it in the pasta. The spoon was not used in over 24 hours but the pan was used within 24 hours. What is the status of the spoon, pasta, and pan? I need help! I would like to save my spoon if poossible. Thank you!

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

The food and pan are fine. after 24 hours the spoon should be kashered by Hagala, only if know that this spoon has actually been used once before with hot meat, if you do not recall doing so, then it is permitted, and considered as a Milky spoon and no Hagalah needs to be done, However if you want it to be a Meaty spoon, then you would need wait 24 hours and then do to do Hagalah.
