Strawberries

Question

Hi to what extent am I obligated to check let's say a strawberry for bugs if I look and I don't see anything what am I obligated to do?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

The halacha for strawberries (not the ones with a Hechsher that were specifically grown in a bug free environment) is as follows:

1.Cut the tops off

2. Let the strawberries soak in soapy water for a while.

3. Rinse off very well

4.you may then blend them

The only way to be able to eat them is to cut off the tops and then peel the entire strawberry
