Saying "Pig"
Question
Hello Is it permitted to say the word "pig" when talking about a חזיר? thank you ( I could not find the answer - sorry)
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
it is brought in the Talmud (Pesachim 3a) that one should speak Be'lashon Ne'kiyah (clean language), therefore since we try to avoid mentioning things that carry a negative connotation we say "davar acher" ("the other thing") when talking about pigs and people will understand that you mean "pig"
