What to eat to improve blood
Question
I have been through some serious chemotherapy after being diagnosed with Non-Hodkins Lymphoma. My hemoglobin dropped and I need to eat a lot of protein rich foods. I was told to eat shellfish-prawns. This is of course not Kosher. What should I do? I need to improve my blood count.
Answer
Shalom!
Thank you for your question.
There are plenty of kosher alternatives to prawns that will provide you with the protein you need. You must speak with your doctor and dietician to determine which foods can be substituted for prawns, such as eggs, chicken and fish. As such, one may not eat prawns.
Wishing you only good health!
