Pregnancy – waiting between meat and milk, eating before Kiddush

Question

1. A woman in the first trimester of pregnancy who needs to eat small meals every two to three hours, otherwise she experiences nausea: does she have to wait the full amount of time between meat and milk (she is accustomed to five hours and ten minutes), since many light foods do not relieve the nausea and she needs more nourishing food?

2. Additionally, on Friday night it is very difficult for her to wait until Kiddush. May she eat beforehand?

a. She may be lenient, when necessary, and wait one hour.

b. She should recite Kiddush and eat a kezayit.
