A dairy onion in a blender
Question
I cut an onion with a dairy knife, and then ground it in a parve (neutral) blender. Did the status of this blender change as a result of this, or did it remain parve?
Answer
Dear …,
If the knife was indeed dairy, then it made the blender dairy as well.
(Very often a knife that is used for dairy products doesn’t actually become dairy itself. This could happen if the knife never absorbed the taste of milk from food that’s in a utensil that has been wormed on a fire, etc. Only if the knife touched food in a pan that was wormed on a stove, or if it was used to take dairy toast out of toaster, etc., does the knife become dairy. In this case it will render the onion dairy.)
