Induction Cooktop - Absorption of Non-Kosher food

Question

I'm planning to go to a non-Jew's vacation rental during Bein Hazmanim. He has an induction cooktop. My question is whether there’s any issue with using it, and also whether I can use it for both meat and dairy (of course, separately).Additionally, should I be concerned about water spilling from the pot during cooking in regard to the kashrut of the pot and the food?

Answer

Shalom UvRacha,

It is permitted to use non-kosher cooktops, as long as they are dry and clean.

The same applies to cooking meat and dairy one after the other—if the cooktop is dry and clean, it’s allowed.

Even if water spills during cooking, the pot and the food are not prohibited, unless the cooktop had absorbed non-kosher taste within the past 24 hours.

The same applies to water spilling from meat or dairy—if there was no spillage from the other type within the last 24 hours, the pot and food are permitted.
