Honey without Kosher Certification
Question
Shalom,I received a jar of honey as a gift from a Jew who isn’t observant, and I don’t know anything about how it was produced, whether the container was immersed, or if it might have been harvested on Shabbos, G-d forbid. What’s the proper thing to do with this honey?
Answer
Shalom uVracha
You can go ahead and use the honey.
There’s no concern about any forbidden flavors being absorbed.
You don’t need to immerse the jar or container it came in.
And there’s no reason to worry that the honey was harvested on Shabbos.
