Blessing on 'Pro' Bread

Question

Hello, I would like to know what blessing should be recited over 'Pro' bread from the Agami bakery under the supervision of Rabbi Landa, The bread is designed for people who want a high-protein, low-carb option. Attached is the list of ingredients used to make the bread. (I heard that some rabbis say the blessing should be shehakol.) And if so, what is the law regarding washing hands and meals on Shabbat and Yom Tov?

Answer

Shalom,

According to the attached specification, there is only 8% flour in the product.

It’s quite possible that such a small percentage doesn’t contribute to the taste and is included only for texture or other reasons.

Therefore, one needs check this and taste the bread in order to determine this.

If the grain doesn’t contribute to the taste, the blessing on the product is Shehakol, and one does need to wash one's hands before eating or recite Birkat Hamazon over it.

However, if the grain does contribute to the taste, the grain is not nullified, and one must wash hands and also recite 'hamotzi' and the blessing after meals.
