Kashrut of Melatonin Drops

Question

My daughter (a girl from a yeshivish family in Bnei Brak) bought melatonin drops (not pills) to help with falling asleep at night. Brand: Maxi-Health. Hechsher: UK – under the supervision of the Av Beis Din of Udwary, shlit”a.She wanted to clarify whether this product has any kashrus concerns that would require a more mehudar (strict) certification.

Answer

Shalom u'vracha

In accordance with the directive of our teacher, Hagaon Harav Amrom Fried shelitah, I am unable to comment on specific kashrus certifications.

However, regarding the question: if the drops do not have a pleasant taste, it is permitted to take them for medical purposes even without a hechsher.
