Parve plastics board cut onion and meet

Question

We have parve cutting board. Daughter cut meat and onions on it. It is plastic. Is there a way to keep it parve and clean it?

Answer

Shalom!

Thank you for your question.

If the meat and onions was cut two separate times, then it would depend on which knife you cut the onion. if it was a parve knife then the cutting board is parveh if it was a meaty knife (used before to cut meat that was yad soledet bo, or it was used to cut meat and a davar charif toghether or other ways that a knife could become meaty) then the cutting board would be meaty. If one doesn't remember if the knife is meaty then it is considered as parve.

If you cut the meat and onion together, then the board will be considered meaty.

In this instance, the cutting board may be koshered back to parve even though it is plastic we may be lenient in this case.
