Halachic Issues with a Coffee Machines
Question
Is it permissible to use a coffee machine abroad?
Answer
There are two issues with using coffee machines:
A. Tevilas Keilim (Immersing Utensils):
This applies only when the machine is owned by a Jew and was bought from a non-Jew.
B. Absorption of Non-Kosher Residue:
This is relevant only if the machine was used for coffee that had added ingredients like for flavored coffees. If it was used only for plain black coffee, there’s no issue.
